NOAA Needs to Hear YOUR Workforce Challenges

The Ohio State University and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are teaming up to better understand the workforce needs of the water and wastewater industry and they need to hear from YOU! OWEA is part of a large group who are helping to shape the future of wastewater and we have been asked to share this important survey with our members. Surveys are due by NOON on 10/22.

Residuals and Biosolids Workshop Slated for December 3

Mark your calendars now to join other wastewater professionals to hear the latest in biosolids and residuals! This member favorite workshop is scheduled for December 3 in Dublin, Ohio. You’ll not only hear about the newest technology and developments in biosolids but will also have plenty of time to network with other residuals professionals. Registration will be open soon.

Missed One Water? On Demand Offers Another Opportunity

In August, One Water provided great education to more than 1,600 water and wastewater professionals. We know some of you weren’t able to make it to, or if you were maybe you are short a few professional development or contact hours. No problem – we have a great solution with One Water on Demand!

One Water on Demand will offer you up to 9 contact/professional development hours on your term, where that’s 1 am or 1 pm. You can log on from anywhere between October 23 – November 6 and take any or all of the twelve 45 minute sessions. It’s professional education YOUR way! OWEA’s All Female Student Design Team

An all-female student design team from Case Western Reserve proudly represented Ohio at WEFTEC’s Student Design Competition. This year’s contest contained a Process Control competition, which our team had a notable high score in! The Student Design Competition allows students to gain real world experience and presentation skills. A big shout out to Buckeye Pumps who sponsors our team. We greatly appreciate their support!

Ohio Ops Challenge Teams at WEFTEC

This year Ohio was represented by two strong Operations Challenge teams, Dirty Deeds from the Northwestern Water and Sewer District (NWWSD) and Nightmare on High Street from the City of Columbus. Ops Challenge is a great way for operators to show off their skills!

YP Summit Registration is OPEN

Young Professionals from around Ohio will gather on Friday, November 15 at Del-Co Water company to join together to learn and network at the first YP Summit! OWEA is supporting OAWWA in this effort and if you are a young professional or want to connect with young professionals, you need to be there. Certified Wastewater Operators – Time to Check Your Hours

If you are a Certified Wastewater Operator, you should take a moment and check your E-Biz account to make sure that all your hours are correctly reflected in your account. Now is the time to do this verses right before you renew your license. At times your account may not show they hours you think it should, this could be due to an incorrect Operator ID being entered during registration or many other reasons. Don’t wait until the last minute to make sure you have the hours you need! Check out your account at the link below.
