One Water Sponsorship

This initiative has been years in the making and will be a changing force in wastewater training for Ohio.
 

We have heard from many of you concerning the need for quality entry level training to aid in licensure. In response, we have created our first course, Basic Wastewater. This Basic course will increase the knowledge base necessary to become skilled operators while also helping individuals prepare for the Wastewater I exam. This course is the most up to date and student tested course to aid in licensure available in Ohio.
 

We will be rolling out the Basic Course in Fall 2024.
 

We are looking for PAID instructors for the WTA Basic Wastewater Course for the Fall of 2024. Dates and locations will be reasonably flexible depending on instructor availability.

Do you have a presentation that is applicable to both a water and wastewater audience? Do you want to reach more than 150 industry professionals without leaving your office? Would you like to present but need flexibility concerning when?
 

Now is the time to submit your abstract for our upcoming One Water On Demand, to be available October 26 – November 6. This event offers attendees the ultimate opportunity to make professional development work on their schedule. Attendees can log on ANYTIME during these dates to earn up to nine contact/professional development hours. Chosen presenters will record their presentations either with One Water staff or on their own.

The Ohio EPA is now offering a Service Line Inventory Assistance Program. Community and non-for-profit non-transient non-community (NTNC) public water systems can now submit a request for service line inventory assistance provided at no cost.
 

Systems can receive assistance related to service line inventories and lead service line replacement planning. Types of assistance provided may include training and outreach related to service line requirements, developing a service line inventory, identification of service line material and developing a lead service line replacement plan.

We are excited to announce that Justin Bahar is now a WEF delegate representing OWEA.  Justin is a PE and the Assistant Superintendent, Wastewater Treatment for Cincinnati MSD. Justin is replacing longtime OWEA volunteer Joe Tillison and will finish the remaining few months of his term. Justin will then seek the OWEA Executive Committee recommendation for a new term beginning in October 2024. We are very grateful for everything Joe has done for OWEA and look forward to having Justin represent OWEA.

Our State Only Membership is a less expensive, locally focused option that provides great benefits, including the Buckeye Bulletin, this newsletter and great discounts on section and state events, including One Water. The State Only membership carries no WEF benefits.

We are so pleased to announce our One Water Keynote speaker, Lindsay Kaldon, Fission Surface Power Project Manager, NASA John H. Glenn Research Center. Lindsay will be discussing the Fission Surface Power Project which involves putting a small reactor on the moon.

This keynote will be held during the Kick Off Breakfast on Tuesday, August 6 at 8 am. The One Water Technical Conference and Expo will be held at Kalahari Resort and Conference Center, in Sandusky on August 5-8. You can learn more about One Water and register at the link below.
