We Need YOU for One Water

It takes many people to make sure One Water is a success! Are you interested in volunteering for one of the largest gatherings of wastewater and water professionals in the Midwest? Make sure and indicate on your registration that you are interested in volunteering, and we will reach out with more information. In exchange for your help, you will be the proud recipient of an exclusive One Water volunteer t-shirt and get FREE access to One Water on Demand. Please note volunteers must be registered for the conference.

Are you an Emerging Leader?

The Emerging Leader is a new board position that will be voted on at the OWEA business meeting during One Water. Assuming it passes we would like to have an individual in place who can step into this exciting new role in the Fall.

This new position is meant to give depth and a new perspective to the board. The Emerging Leader is a fully recognized voting Executive Board member. The goal of this position is to bring fresh new ideas and the viewpoint of those who haven’t been as involved with OWEA. The Emerging Leader position will be a two-year term with an optional one-time renewal for a maximum of four years.

Some attributes of someone who might be a good fit for this position include:

  • WEF membership or willingness to upgrade their state only membership to a full WEF membership

  • Employer support

  • Ability to attend Board Meetings both in person and virtually

  • Demonstrated effort and commitment to a prior position or team in OWEA or wastewater industry or other volunteer organization

  • Newer or less experienced in the industry

  • Comfortable expressing ideas and opinions as a new member of an established group

  • Excited to be involved and willing to do the work of improving our association

  • Role in the industry is not defined – lab, operator, engineer, marketing, sales, manager; are all welcome

  • Acts on behalf of those often underrepresented in our industry, either via demographics or experience.

Does this sound like you? Please fill out a nomination form and attach a resume HERE.

Nominees will be reviewed and potentially contacted by the Nominations Chair for a brief virtual discussion. The Executive Committee will be voting on which nominee will become the next Emerging Leader.

Beware of One Water Scams

Please be aware that OWEA and One Water will never try and sell you an attendee list or email you specifically about hotel reservations. One Water never sells our attendee or exhibitor information, but due to advances in technology this information is being obtained in other ways. Unfortunately several companies are trying to capitalize on the popularity of One Water and contacting our exhibitors and possibly our attendees with fraudulent offers regarding attendee lists and hotel rooms.

Attendee lists (name and company) can by acquired by request after online registration closes. There is no need to buy a list. One Water does NOT utilize third party vendors for any kind of marketing. The only contact exhibitors will receive that won’t be from One Water, will be from our show decorator, Geo. Fern.

Our headquarters hotel is the Hilton Columbus Downtown. Hotel reservations at the negotiated rates can only be made through the Hilton Passkey Booking Link listed HERE and on the One Water website. One Water does not authorize or endorse any other housing service or independent broker. For your own protection, do not make reservations through any other housing or travel company.

How to Make Sure Your Contact Hours Count

We want to make sure you are getting contact hours for the events you are attending. By following just a few simple guidelines you will ensure you receive the hours you planned for. When attending a section event, make sure to:

  • Initial and sign your contact hour form. If you don’t, we can’t award credit.

  • Have your form signed by an authorized section representative. We can’t award credit to unsigned forms.

  • Use the correct Operator ID. If an incorrect ID is used, no credit will be awarded or uploaded even if the form is correct.

  • Use the correct approval number that corresponds with the appropriate course title.

  • Check your e-biz record about 25 days after the event to make sure the contact hours are showing.

Correctly filling out contact hour forms is your responsibility, and your license is worth it. By taking just a few moments to check everything over before exiting a section event, you won’t be surprised during renewal time.
