We also have heard from many of our engineers that they still need contact hours for their water or wastewater license. In response, OWEA is proud to introduce OWEA Close to Home. This new kind of in person workshop will offer up to 5 PDH/CHs and will feature ultimate flexibility. You can register for just ethics in the morning, just leadership/management in the afternoon or both and we give you a discount and include lunch. OWEA Close to Home will be in Cleveland on Thursday, October 22 and Columbus on Thursday, October 29. We will be practicing COVID-19 safety protocol to ensure all attendees will be as safe as possible. This includes masks and social distancing. On September 2, OWEA held our Annual Business Meeting via Zoom. This provided an opportunity to express our gratitude to outgoing President, Kim Riddell-Furry and welcome incoming President, Mike Welke. Melodi Clark was also named the newest board member, in her role as Southeast Delegate. In addition to our annual progression of the chairs, this unusual event also reviewed the previous year and finances. The OWEA staff would like to extend a hearty thanks to Kim and welcome Mike and Melodi into their new roles. We are grateful for all of our Executive Committee members who are helping to lead YOUR association during these unprecedented times. Save the date for the OWEA Free October Webinar slated for Thursday, October 15 from 2-3 pm. This one hour webinar will feature our Student Design Competition winners and the Student Design Competition Sponsor, Buckeye Pumps. The webinar will give you one contact hour at no cost to members. Registration will be available soon so keep an eye on your email. This free webinar was made possible by Buckeye Pumps. Virtual Conference is a Success The 2020 OWEA Virtual Conference is a wrap! More than 350 wastewater professionals logged on to hear great technical presentations, see exciting new products and services at the virtual exhibit hall, and network thru the social media wall. While a virtual conference is not what anyone planned at the beginning of 2020, we are proud of the final results and hope those that attended enjoyed the experience. For all participants who obtained contact hours/professional development hours, you will receive a certificate via email no later than October 15. OWEA will also then upload Operator’s hours to the EPA’s E-Business site. We want to sincerely thank all of you exhibitors and sponsors. You truly made this successful event possible!
