Be a Part of One Water 2026! Abstract Deadline is December 15

Presenting at a large conference like One Water is a great way to build your resume and tell your story. Whether your company has just finished an innovative project, or your municipality has a success you want to share, presenting is a great opportunity. We are now accepting abstracts for the 2026 One Water Conference, slated for August 17-20 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Plan now to be a part of one of the largest gatherings of water and wastewater professionals in the Midwest. You can get more information and submit your abstract at the link below.

GARA Save the Date

Mark your calendars now for the One Water 2026 Government and Regulatory Affairs workshop slated for Thursday, March 5 in Dublin at the Marriott Columbus Northwest. This joint effort of OAWWA and OWEA will feature regulatory updates and many hot topics relevant to both the wastewater and water industries. There’s plenty of networking time built into the event so plan now to attend. Registration and the full agenda will be available early 2026.

It’s webinar time! OWEA will once again offer our monthly online webinars as packages. The one hour webinars will be the second Wednesday of each month with alternating times of 10 am and 3 pm. Beware of Scam Emails and Texts

Unfortunately, the joy of the holidays also brings out scammers. Please be aware of any emails coming from our board members or staff that seem off. OWEA can’t do anything to prevent these and they are happening due to bots seeing names and emails on our website. Our systems and your information is secure, but you still need to be cautious and careful. Here are some tips to make sure you don’t get taken:

  • Sense of urgency or threats

  • Requests for sensitive information

  • Specious sender addresses (look very carefully at the sender’s email, it’s often only off by one letter)

  • Requests for gift cards

  • Poor spelling or grammar

  • Wording that doesn’t sound like the sender’s normal emails

  • Request of changing of an ACH account number

When in doubt CALL the sender to confirm if it actually came from them. A few moments can save you lots of money and grief.

Certified Wastewater Operators – Time to Check Your Hours

If you are a Certified Wastewater Operator, you should take a moment and check your E-Biz account to make sure that all your hours are correctly reflected in your account. Now is the time to do this, verses right at the end of the year. At times your account may not show the hours you think it should, this could be due to an incorrect or no Operator ID being entered during registration or many other reasons. Don’t wait until the last minute to make sure you have the hours you need! Check out your account at the link below.

OWEA Holiday Hours

The OWEA office will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28 in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. All emails and messages will be returned on Monday, December 2. Thank you for your patience and have a safe and happy holiday.
